Laketrails Base Camp, Inc. is a non-profit 501 ( c ) (3) corporation which owns and operates a wilderness base camp on Oak Island in Lake of the Woods in the Northwest Angle of Minnesota.

Operating since 1952 we provide a wilderness camping experience for teenagers in the Minnesota and Ontario wilderness of Lake of the Woods. There are seven nine-day sessions available in June through August for youth groups, individual teenagers or others to participate in a canoe trip through this professionally guided program. Laketrails is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA).

Building the Voyaguer Canoe : 30 Foot Voyageur Canoe coming to Laketrails Mike Daly, father of Maura Daly Camper & Guide ('77-’81, Guide & Guest Guide in ‘90’s) Built a voyageur style cedar strip canoe that was donated to Laketrails and launched in the summer of 2007. Mike has built numerous cedar strip canoes and is assisted by Tom Lynch, Guide (‘90's), Maura’s husband. Tom is no stranger to Laketrails or boat building either. He has spent summers as a Guide and Guest Guide to High School students that he teaches during the school year. Tom has also built wooden boats in the past. With seating up to 12 people this canoe will really fly. The camp director is looking forward to waterskiing behind it this summer. Thanks Mike, Tom and Maura for your generosity, time and the Voyageur canoe.

2005 Memorial Day Weekend : On Friday May 27th over 40 volunteers arrived at Laketrails to open the camp for the 53rd season. We mowed, raked, built, cleaned, moved, cooked, ate, slept, sang, prayed and laughed together for three enjoyable days!

May 20, 2005 Camp Opening : On May 20th - 9 young men and 2 adults came to assist in camp opening. They mowed and raked about 5 acres of grass, cut wood, installed signs, fixed what wasn't working and fit in sleeping, eating and relaxing a little. Fine work boys!
